Best of 2016 in Young Adult and Children's Collection

In late winter (or early spring depending on where you live!), book review journals, which we use to help inform us as we make purchasing decisions, compile lists of books awarded special recognition and awards during the past year. As librarians, we love to peruse these lists. We also like to see how many of the titles mentioned made their way into our library collection. This year is no exception, and over the past week I feverishly worked my way through these lists. Below are books from our young adult and children’s collections that received Best of the Year mentions from the Young Adult Library Service Association (YALSA) or the comparable Notable Mentions from the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC). One book even made both. Enjoy!
