Please join the Friends of the Jackson Public Library as they host a concert by local musicians Miss Maybell and Slimpickin’s on Friday May 8th, 2015 at 7:00 pm at the Jackson Public Library, located at 52 Main Street in Jackson, NH.

Miss Maybell & Slimpickin’s are a New England duo from the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Their sound bridges several genres of American roots music including Jazz, Ragtime, Country, and Blues. A duet that creates tremendous energy, they are sure to have the audience tapping their feet and dancing in no time. They have played regularly at several venues in the White Mountains of N.H. as well as Maine. Wherever they play they bring smiles to all the faces of those around them, and are guaranteed to be like no other band you have seen before.

Miss Maybell, has always had a deep love of music and has been singing, and playing one instrument or another her whole life. She has an immense attachment to the great woman singers of the past such as Bessie Smith, Ella Fitzgerald, and Billie Holiday. With a Deep Contralto Voice and a firm musicality in her voice she is fully equipped to execute the challenge of singing the great songs of the past. She also plays Banjo, Washboard, Tenor Guitar and Kazoo.

Slimpickin’s has been playing guitar for the past fifteen years and practices the classic finger-style of some of the most amazing guitar pickers in early American music, such as Mississippi John Hurt, Robert Johnson, and Big Bill Bronzy. And on top of his wonderful playing he carries a tune splendidly with his clear tenor voice.

The concert is free and open to the public through although a donation of $5.00 is greatly appreciated to offset expenses. For more information, please contact the Jackson Public Library at 603-383-9731
