Jackson Women's Sewing Club gifts a patio

Late last summer the Jackson Women’s Sewing Club dissolved after 100 years of service to the Jackson community. They offered the Library the balance of their accounts for the purpose of developing an outdoor community space behind our building.

We happily accepted and got to work on plans to continue work on the landscaping plan included in the original building design. This will include a new emergency egress, a bricked patio and a pergola for shade. The next phase may include ramps or a tiered teaching and performance space.

This project could not have happened without the support of the Library Board of Trustees, the Friends of the Jackson Library, the Jackson Selectmen, the Jackson Highway Department, Eastern Green, Tamarack Construction & Michael Weeder, Roger Aubrey, Joyce Allan, and the Jackson Women’s Sewing Club.

As of today, June 20th, the patio is fully installed and the Library Staff have been entrusted with watering adequate for the grass to grow. Soon, volunteers will begin assembling the pergola. I will add photos to the instagram account as we proceed.

We will see you soon on the patio!
