Did you even notice that I didn’t share the new titles in May? By the time I sat down to do it, it was time to order June’s so I thought I would wait. I have been making an effort to stock up with summery books for every interest. Diverting, interesting, fun, but not too demanding on the intellect.
In addition, I found some gems in the book sale donations and used them to fill in the collection a bit. If you have a favorite author or have been thinking of reading a certain older title, look again, we may have added it… I did not include those below.

- New Fiction
- The fix by David Baldacci. This is a large print book. Find it at F BAL.
- The child by Fiona Barton. Find it at F BAR after it’s release on June 27th.
- The Lost Order by Steve Berry. Find it at F BER.
- The last days of Cafe Leila by Donia Bijan. A young woman returns to Iran, the cafe in which she grew up, and her father. She finds herself caught between her life in the US and her memories of what life used to be in Iran. Find it at F BIJ.
- The forever summer by Jamie Brenner. Find it at F BRE.
- Marlena by Julie Buntin. Find it at F BUN.
- New Boy by Tracy Chevalier. A modern re-imagining of Othello. The action is set in a school yard and action takes place over the course of one day. It’s a quick read and excellently thoughtful. Find it at F CHE.
- Dragon teeth by Michael Crichton. Written from an unfinished manuscript and published posthumously. Find it at F CRI.
- Blackout by Marc Elsberg. A bestseller in Germany and just published in English, this novel imagines when a young hacker becomes embroiled in the mystery of why an entire electrical grid has failed. Find it at F ELS.
- The reminders by Val Emmich. Encountered on several ‘Best’ lists (Best of the summer, best of June, etc) it sounds like a quirky buddy-story about an older man who forgets and a young woman who remembers everything. Sounds sweet. Find it at F EMM.
- The confusion of languages by Siobhan Fallon. Find it at F FAL after June 27.
- Unsub by Meg Gardiner. Find it at F GAR after June 27.
- The people we hate at the wedding by Grant Ginder. Seems to be in the realm of The Nest, Where’d You Go, Bernadette?, and Crazy Rich Asians – all perfect for the hammock! Find it at F GIN.
- A house among the trees by Julia Glass. A novel that centers around the death of a children’s book author’s complicated will…. that’s as far as I read before I was interested. Find it at F GLA after June 13.
- Grief cottage by Gail Godwin. Who amongst us could resist such a cheery title? Find it at F GOD.
- Camino Island by John Grisham. Find it at F GRI.
- Into the water by Paula Hawkins. By the author of The Girl on the Train. Find it at F HAW.
- Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows by Balli Kaur Jaswal. A young woman teaching creative writing in London’s Sikh community finds the best way to inspire is to encourage her students to write erotic stories. No doubt hilarity ensues. Find it at F JAS after June 13.

- Rich people problems by Kevin Kwan. By the author of Crazy Rich Asians. How am I doing on that summer reading thing!? Find it at F KWA.
- White fur by Jardine Libaire. Having grown up in the 80s and married to a New Yorker, a novel set in both of those seemed fascinating. Find it at F LIB.

- Easy, Healthy, Cook & Freeze by M.S. Borboa. I did some freezer cooking this winter. I prepare up to 14 dinners at once, freeze them and then just pop them in the oven at the right time.
