Book Groups

ADULTS

Join us for our Book Discussion Group. We usually meet on the second Tuesday of every month and try to alternate between fiction and non-fiction. If you prefer a format other than those listed as available (Large Print? Downloadable? On a kindle for traveling?), please contact the Library and we will get it for you.

Here are the titles we have scheduled so far for 2017:

Email the Library to make Book Discussion group suggestions.

Community Book Clubs Got a group already or planning to put a group together? We can provide multiple copies of books borrowed from other NH libraries, and can also provide resources or suggestions for picking titles, and discussion guides. When choosing titles, note that current bestsellers are rarely available for borrowing. In addition, NH Library Association’s READS group offers READS-to-Go offers book club kits, bags filled with 15 copies of a single title along with a discussion guide. Reads-To-Go.org has a list of the available titles as well as the NH State Library.

Contact us to arrange to borrow one of the bags and please provide as much lead time as possible when selecting a particular book. They sometimes have waiting lists.

CHILDREN / TEENS

Story Time for Toddlers and Preschoolers. Our toddler/preschool Story Time continues to meet the first and third Thursday of each month at 10:30 am. If you have an infant, please feel free to join us as well. Research has repeatedly shown that reading aloud to your baby is a fantastic way to enhance emerging language skills. So come on by and participate in the fun! On the other Thursdays of the month we invite families to stop in at 10:30 for an informal playgroup gathering.

K-3 Story Time. Stories at the Library for students in grades K-3 meet on the third Tuesday of every month school is in session, from 3 until 4:15 pm. If your child in grades K through 3 would love more time to listen to stories, please have him or her participate in our K-3 stories at the Library program. Students are picked up at the Jackson Grammar School and walked over to the public library for stories and activities. Pick up is at the library. Your child is required to sign up in advance and this information will be sent home with the weekly school newsletter. For more information, contact Meredith Piotrow.
