Caribbean Steelpan Drumming WEDNESDAY!

In celebration of our Summer Reading Program, LIBRARIES ROCK!, please join the Jackson Public Library for “PanNeubean Steel”, a demonstration of Caribbean Steelpan Drumming with Jeffrey Clayton on Wednesday evening July 18th at 5:30 pm!

Music fans of all ages are invited to come hear Jeffrey play Reggae, Soca, Calypso, African-Caribbean, Contemporary, Jazz, and Classical music styles on the versatile Steelpan Drum. The Steelpan drum started in Trinidad and Tobago, and was originally hand-made from discarded oil drums left by the U.S. Navy.

Jefferey has shared the stage with Stephen Marley, Wayne Wonder, Max Roach, The Duke Ellington Band and Chris Vadala. He has also traveled as a Music Ambassador to Germany and the Netherlands and has performed for the President and Vice President of the United States. PanNeubean Steel has played Sunday River’s Parrothead Festival, at Fenway for the Red Sox and Gillette Stadium for the New England Patriots.

Jeffrey is a retired Army Band Musician with 21 years of service. He holds a BA in Sociology from the University of Massachusetts and a MM in Music Education from the New England Conservatory.
