It’s that time of year again, when the community works together to support our local library with its annual used book sale at the Whitney Community Center. This year’s sale will be over Memorial Day weekend, Saturday May 27 and Sunday May 28, with setup on Fri., May 26. The publicity notices are going out and sale posters will soon be posted around the Valley. The planning committee has met to make preliminary plans for this annual sale, and we appreciate the willingness of people to participate and help!
We are looking for helpers who can give a few hours of time during the sale weekend to make this another successful fundraiser for the library. As you know, it is a great opportunity to meet other local folks, and to have a “first look at, and chance to purchase” the many books that will be available for sale.
Specifically, we are looking for helpers on:
- Fri., May 26, 9:00 – 11:30 – meet at Whitney Community Center to sort books to tables. Coffee, tea and treats will be available! Many hands make for fast work – and you would have the “first chance” to purchase books from the sale.
- Sat., May 27 – helpers to maintain books on tables, act as cashiers, shift leaders. Shifts are: 10:00 am – 12:30 pm, or 12:30 – 3:00 pm.
- Sun., May 28 – helpers to maintain books on tables, act as cashiers, shift leaders. Shifts are: 10:00 am – 12:30 pm, or 12:30 – 3:00 pm.
- Sun., May 28, 3:00 – 4:00 pm, packing up unsold books, folding up tables for storage, clean-up. Lots of volunteers always make this go quickly.
If you are able to help, please email or phone us at 383-9731 with your time preference and availability. There is also be a sign-up sheet at the Library.
Please spread the word with others who may be willing to help! And, yes, we are collecting donations. Drop your unwanted, good condition books at the Library – books only please.
Thanks so much!
