Storywalks at the Library

This summer we are trying to rotate our outside STORYWALKS more frequently. We have taken some well loved, but falling apart books, placed the pages in plastic covers, and posted them around the outside of the building. Currently, we have Going Lobstering by Jerry Pallotta and Rob Bolster on display. We will continue to rotate the selection as wear and tear dictates. Come on by and enjoy!

Our 2016 Summer Reading Program wrapped up this week. It was another fantastic season, with stories, games, projects and exploration. Reading Logs have been coming in all day, and so far I have tallied over 22,189 minutes of reading (that’s 369+ hours) that kids have kept track of just this month. We are so grateful for both the support of our wonderful volunteers and the generosity of our sponsors who encourage reading among our youth: Back-Country Café, Dairy Queen, Hannaford, J-Town Deli, Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf, Portland Sea Dogs, StoryLand and Trail’s End.

We hope everyone, and that means adults too, will keep stopping by and adding to our Lego Reading Sculpture which will be up through August.

Please note there will be no children’s programming at library in August. Storytime will resume on Thursday, September 1st and Legos at the Library will meet next on Thursday, September 8th. Happy August!
