Warm and Cozy

The Holidays are almost here; I am dieting and hungry; two kids keep me from every attempting a whole book, let alone a chapter… whatever the reason when a kind soul donated an entire Hannah Swensen Series, they looked good enough to feature. We have never had this series in Jackson before, but the reviews are pretty good and I thought we might take the opportunity to give them a try. You won’t win most-intellectual on your block but you may make it through January 1st with your sense of humor intact. Let us know what you think?

From Joanne Fluke’s website:

What happens when you mix baked goods with murder? You get Hannah Swensen and her best-selling series of cozy mysteries. Each book is packed with a great story and delicious dessert recipes, as this small-town baker solves yet another murder in this otherwise quiet, small town of Lake Eden, Minnesota.

No one cooks up a delectable, suspense-filled mystery quite like Hannah Swensen, Joanne Fluke’s dessert-baking, red-haired heroine whose gingersnaps are as tart as her comebacks, and whose penchant for solving crimes—one delicious clue at a time—has made her a bestselling favorite.

Joanne Fluke has baked over 500,000 chocolate chip cookies for fans of her Hannah Swensen mysteries since the series debuted in 2000, not to mention countless pies, cakes, muffins and other sweets. However, it’s not just the desserts that keep readers clamoring for her next novel. Reviewers have long praised Fluke’s work, with Kirkus Reviews calling her novel PEACH COBBLER MURDER, “her tastiest yet.” Publishers Weekly said her holiday Hannah Swensen Mystery, SUGAR COOKIE MURDER, is “a delectable culinary romp…[with] wacky and delightful characters.”

Fluke’s CHERRY CHEESECAKE MURDER marked her debut onto The New York Times bestseller list in March 2006, and she followed up that success again a year later in March 2007 with her second New York Times bestseller, KEY LIME PIE MURDER, praised by Publishers Weekly as “Yummy…Fluke has developed a charming supporting cast—all feel like friends by the time the murder is solved.”

Did you know you can bribe librarian’s with baked goods. True story.
