There is only one place throughout the entire Kingdom of Wrenly that no one dares explore: the Dream Portal. Hidden beyond the swamps of Bogburb, this strange and ancient circle of stones was built by wizards before time began. Stories of great danger surround the mysterious monument. But when their dragon friend, Ruskin, falls under the Dream Portal's spell, Lucas and Clara will risk the legendary peril to save him.

The people of Wrenly have always believed that goblins are dangerous creatures who were stripped of their magical powers by wizards after the Goblin Battles; and when Prince Lucas and Clara follow a young goblin, Zark, who has come from the wizard Grom, they find themselves captured by the goblin leader Golart, who has taken over Hobsgrove -- but Grom has a plan, and it requires that the children put their trust in Zark.

Clara, Tublock, and many others compete to become one of the ultimate defenders of the Kingdom of Wrenly, a member of the elite Knight Spires.

Prince Lucas would rather be enjoying the outdoors with his best friend, Clara, than learning to play the lute, until a visiting bard demonstrates the power of music.

As diverse subjects of Wrenly gather from far and wide to participate in the kingdom's Grand Tournament, a rude squire declares that girls cannot be knights, which makes Clara determined to prove that she can be anything she wants as long as she works hard enough for it.

Eight-year-old Lucas, Prince of Wrenly, is eager to explore and Clara, daughter of the queen's seamstress, knows the kingdom well, so they team up to find a lost jewel and visit all of the land's main attractions as they search.

A newly-hatched, rare scarlet dragon comes under the special protection of the King and Prince Lucas, so when the dragon becomes ill Lucas and Clara set out for the forest of Burth to find the vixberries needed for a cure.
