Description
Colorado's Rocky Mountains provide some of the best and various types of rock climbing, which is why people come from all around the world to climb Colorado. This program takes us to Eldorado Canyon State Park where we meet Jenny Herman, who is relatively new to climbing, and Adam Hufford, an experienced rock climber, who explains that the great thing about climbing in Colorado is that there are challenges for every skill level; some of which require little or no equipment, while costs for serious climbing can add up. Viewers are introduced to the various types of climbing, from beginner to expert, as well as various climbing techniques for each level; we learn about proper footwear and specialized clothing to wear; also the different types of gear required, be it for top-roping, support climbing or traditional climbing. We are shown how to use the equipment necessary to make steep climbs, including the two classes of climbing ropes (static and dynamic), cams, nuts, anchors and a climbing harness. Overall, we discover rock climbing, though a challenging activity, can bring a great amount of personal satisfaction by planning climbs carefully.
