Description
In this **Academy Award** nominated drama directed by champion of poetic realism, Jean Renoir, Sam Tucker, a Texan cotton picker, has aspirations to run his own farm and create a better life for his family. Along with his wife, Nona, Sam works tirelessly on an abandoned plot of land, but numerous difficulties and hardships arise, making his humble dream a difficult one to achieve. Nominated for Best Director, Best Sound, and Best Music - Scoring of a Dramatic or Comedy Picture at the **Academy Awards**. Winner of Best Director and named one of the Top Ten films of 1945 by the **National Board of Review**.
